The other day I mowed the lawn for my mother-in-law.  The gas can in the garage was a little low, so before I got started I went to a nearby filling station.  I spent about $5.00, and the two-gallon can was barely more than half-full.  It made me remember when I was a kid, how my dad would stop to get gas.  He would tell the attendant (yes, someone actually pumped the gas for you back then) to "fill 'er up or five bucks, whatever comes first."  Yes boys and girls, you could actually fill your car's gas tank for $5.00 American.

Then again if you got double-digit gas milage you were lucky, so maybe there's some sort of trade off.
