About Mark Richards
Long time Milwaukee radio guy Mark Richards can be heard afternoons on FM 106.1.  Mark is a Milwaukee native, a graduate of Hamilton High School ("class of 19-something") who attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh and Marquette University in Milwaukee.  You can hear his voice on numerous radio and TV commercials both locally and nationally.  For more than 20 years he has also been the voice of Milwaukee’s Holiday Folk Fair.  Mark has also done community theater work, appearing in plays such as “The Man Who Came To Dinner” in which he played the lead role of Sheridan Whiteside and “My Fair Lady”  where he played Henry Higgins.

When not in front of a microphone you can find Mark on the golf course or spending time with his family.  Mark is married to Laura and has one son, Joshua, who is in fourth grade.  Oh, and let's not leave out the family pets: Pumpkin, an Australian Terrier; and Stanley, a whale masquerading as a goldfish.

Comments: "Not that impressed... nice catchy tune... gets you up and moving... voices like nails on a chalkboard... predictable... I'd give it an 11 if I could... I'd give it lower than one if I could... sounded like Little Big Town."
And they do this every year

Every year in the town of Bunol, Spain, thousands of people arrive to take part in the "Tomatina", a festival in which people throw tomatoes at one another.  Check out this video...

My only question is how come this isn't an Olympic event?
My favorite ( and not-so-favorite) Olympic moments
Monday 08-25-2008 1:51pm CT
OK, here is a quick review of my Olympic experience from the past two weeks...
One very cool moment: The U.S. men's basketball team all hanging their gold medals around the neck of coach Mike Krzyzewski.  Coaches, I learned, don't receive medals, only athletes.  So when all those NBA stars hung all of their medals around Coach K, you knew they had nothing but respect for the man.
Another very cool moment: It seemed to me that every time he won a medal, Michael Phelps searched for his mom and gave her the flowers he received.  I just kind of liked that he did that.
Silliest method of scoring: Boxing.  I think the way it works is you have 5 judges sitting ringside.  Each time they see a fighter land a clean punch on his opponent they hit a button.  If all five hit the button at the same time the fighter scores a point.  So at the end it looks like the fighters are hitting each other constantly, but one guy can win 4-3.  I don't get it.
Second silliest method of scoring: Gymnastics.  If you can explain to me how Nastia Liukin and one of the Chinese gymnasts have the same score, but Nastia ends up with a silver medal, you're a better person than me.  You can probably also explain how the Chinese gymnasts can be 13 last year but turn 16 this year.
One thing I don't get: That goofy commercial where the sumo wrestlers turn into a plane and start flying.  I don't even know what they were trying to advertise, but if it was for an airline, I'm not flying on that one.
Something else I don't get: Why they're dropping baseball and softball but keeping rhythmic gymnastics.
My favorite sport that isn't beach volleyball: I'm not sure that I have one, but if I had to choose I'd say... um, let me get back to you on that.
