It’s true…I’ve been to Nashville more times that I can count for both business and pleasure. It’s a fun town with lots to do! Since I get so much e-mail requesting info about my favorite places, I’ve made a list so you can check it out before your next trip. Have a great time in the Music City!!
MANDATORY!!!
It would be a crying shame if you didn’t get to see these:
Grand Ole Opry
The longest running radio show featuring nightly performances from your favorite country stars. It is an honor for country artists to play the Opry and an awesome experience to be in the audience.
1-800-SEE-OPRY
Country Music Hall of Fame
Witness the evolution of country music! It’s an amazing place with rare costumes, interactive exhibits and live performances.
615-416-2001
Ryman Auditorium
You can feel the history when you walk through the doors of the former home of the Grand Ole Opry and a National Historic Landmark. Take a minute to sit in a pew and savor the true center of all things country music.

OTHER HIGHLIGHTS
Historic RCA Studio B
Many of your favorite songs have been recorded here including Top 10 hits by Elvis, Dolly and Willie. It’s a cool “behind the scenes” look at where the music was made!
615-416-2096
General Jackson Showboat
Named after General Andrew Jackson, this was the first steamboat to operate on the Cumberland River. Enjoy lunch or dinner and a show!
615-458-3900
Opry Mills
I would be remiss in my duties as a “world shopper” if I didn’t include a trip to the Mall! And what a great mall this is! Designed by the same company that created Gurnee Mills, it includes an Alabama theme restaurant and more.
615-514-1000
Trumps Salon and Spa
Stylist to the “stars”, Earl owns this salon located at 3822 Bedford Avenue in Nashville. Martina McBride is his most famous client, but he has done the hair of Faith Hill, Dolly Parton and ME!! You’ll need to schedule WAY ahead of your trip, but call for an appointment 615-385-9898
NIGHTLIFE
Wildhorse Saloon
Home to the FM106 Morning Show Fan Fair broadcast for many years , this place is a party!! There’s three levels, a HUGE dance floor, and usually a line to get in. (Especially if a popular country star is on stage!)
615-902-8200
Tootsies
Located on Broadway in the heart of downtown Nashville, Tootsies is legendary. Many struggling country musicians have played this stage and gone on to bigger things. And to the surprise of the audience, many big stars “pop in” just to jam for a night.
615-726-0463
Bluebird Café
Lots of country stars got their start on this stage including Garth Brooks who played Open Mic night and Sunday Songwriter night before he was discovered. It’s not a big place and you need reservations to get a seat so call 615-383-1461.
GOOD EATS
Noshville
More food than you can ever finish and the pickles are out of this world! Try the Motza Ball soup and any of their deserts.
Merchants Restaurant
Right on Broadway, this is where Scott and I saw Rascal Flatts perform before anyone had heard of them! It’s a bar/recurrent serving lunch and dinner in a cool atmosphere.
615-254-1892
Longhorn Steakhouse
One of those great hangs where you throw peanut shells on the floor while you’re enjoying a cold one. And don’t be surprised if you run into our Nashville reporter Al Winter bellied up to the bar! Two locations on Murfreesboro Pike or Lyle Avenue.
Margot Café and Bar
Located in East Nashville, this is one of the city’s more “unique” dining experiences. The menu changes every day and the entrees are always amazing! Call 615-227-4668 for reservations ( you will need them)
Las Paletas
Anyone for a Wasabi popsicle? This hole in the wall located in the Cypruss Building, 12th and Kirkwood, offers gourmet popsicles with flavors like cucumber and pepper, chai tea and kiwi-pineapple. They're only $2.50 each, so order a few! 615-386-2101
