Ok let me say it…Taylor Swift puts on an amazing show! This wasn’t just a concert, this was something almost indescribable. It was an event. I admit I was in awe the entire night.
So from the beginning…we were so lucky to have the opportunity for a meet & greet. Yes, we got our picture taken with Taylor Swift (in the T-Party room). We also got an autographed picture, lip gloss, hugs and compliments. My guest Mikenzie, who is almost 10 yrs of age, was completely star struck. She was speechless. Taylor Swift commented that she was jealous of Mikenzie’s tan, and complimented Mikenzie on how beautiful her eyes are. Taylor also noticed the sign Mikenzie made for her. Miss Swift was very nice and personable and took the time to make that moment special for each person.
Now for the show. For someone who was in Milwaukee not too many years ago as an opening act, she’s come a long way. Here she is as the main event with not one, but two opening acts. They were both fabulous. Our evening started with Frankie Ballard. He sang a few songs such as “Get On Down The Road”, “You Can’t Always Get What You Want”, “Tell Me You Get Lonely”, and his new hit “A Bunch Of Girls”. During intermission waiting for Taylor Swift, Frankie Ballard came out to shake hands, sign autographs, and take pictures with fans.
The second opening act was NEEDTOBREATHE, and they are not a country band. They were rock-n-roll and they were extremely good. I’d like to say kudos to Taylor Swift for having who she likes regardless of genre. Some songs we enjoyed were “The Outsiders”, “A Girl Named Tennessee”, “Washed By The Water”, and “Something Beautiful”. I really liked this band.
And then comes what thousands of screaming fans were waiting for – the Miss Taylor Swift. She was absolutely beautiful and magnificent. There was so much happening during the entire show my mind is in overload. Talk about props…there was so much it clearly explains the need for the many tour trucks she has. The back screen was incredible – huge with several different shapes of pictures frames used throughout the show. We saw everything from videos playing, picture slideshows, what looked like rain, and snow, clouds, smoke, and fireworks. The evening wasn’t just Taylor Swift singing on stage. She has an incredible entourage of dancers/performers. They gave us a combination of street dancing, ballet, tap, and acrobatics. A huge staircase across the stage was used for a lot of performances…including a wedding ceremony! Time was truly taken for each song to give us a full picture of the meaning of the song…we were taken on an experience. About the middle of the show Taylor Swift walked from the main stage to the other end of the Bradley Center, shaking hands and giving lucky fans their moment, where a large lit up tree with a black bench circled around it awaited her. As she sat on the tree bench and played and sang to us, the entire mini stage moved in a circle. It really was beautiful. When she went back to the main stage she walked around the other side, giving more people a chance to see her up close. Once back to the main stage she was surrounded by several lit trees that dropped from the ceiling…it was gorgeous. Another very cool scene…3 large bells were lowered onto the stage and then raised up again. Once back in the air…people dropped from the centers of the bells! They were dressed in black and did acrobatics while dangling from the bells – this was absolutely off the hook. I was blown away and totally mesmerized. So we’re getting toward the end of the evening and caught up in a love ballad, feeling like she is winding things down to bring the show to an end. Oh no…next thing I know there are fireworks! Yes…fireworks, and not just on video screens…sparks flew across the stage! One word… breathtaking!
Now you’re thinking how could it get any better? Well how about the ability to be there while Kid Rock is on the big screen, live via satellite reading off nominations during the CMT Awards! Yep…Miss Taylor Swift was nominated. We all watched together, along with Taylor Swift, holding our breath waiting for the envelope to be opened, and she won! Talk about loud…our Bradley Center full of a crowd of screaming girls has got to be one of the loudest things I’ve ever heard. What an amazing feeling to be there live with her as she accepts the award via satellite. That was a first for me. Very, very cool. Any of you who were at home watching the CMT Awards know what I’m talking about.
Bet you’re wondering if she changed clothes…um yah!!!! I’d say about 10 times – literally. She started the night appearing on stage in a gorgeous gold dress, then a white dress, then blue, red, purple, black, and it keeps going. She was stunning in every single one. Oh, and what did she sing? So many songs I can’t list them all, but here’s a taste of what we enjoyed: “Sparks Fly”, “Mine”, “Story Of Us”, “Our Song”, “Mean”, “Back To December”, “Sabotage”, “Fearless”, “Last Kiss”, “You Belong With Me”, “Enchanted”, and “Fifteen”. Taylor Swift sat on a huge sofa on stage while singing “Fifteen”.
I admit this show was a lot more than I expected. I was thoroughly impressed. That young lady sure knows how to entertain. And she’s so interactive with the audience it’s amazing. She leaves you feeling as if she’s acknowledged each and every person that is there. It really was a special evening. I’m so very lucky to have had the Taylor Swift concert experience. And yes…I would love to see her again, without a doubt.
