When I started Check Up for Chicks in 2009, I NEVER imagined it would help so many in need. Countless Mammogram Parties, hundreds of screenings and thousands of dollars in patient & survivor needs were provided over the years.
Now that the Affordable Health Care Act is in place, EVERYONE will be covered for screening mammograms. No deductibles, no co-pays, NO reason not to get your screening when it's time!
At the same time, I learned my charity partner, Kim Melcher would be accepting the Deputy Director position with another amazing organization, After Breast Cancer Diagnosis. Many of you may have met Kim at the parties and survivor events. She was the lifeline of my charity responsible for scheduling patients, processing paperwork, and appropriating funds.
Both of these changes have impacted my decision to dissolve Check Up for Chicks, a memorial to my Mom lost to breast cancer. I will continue to advocate for women's health, raising awareness and supporting breast cancer charities in our community. My Mom would have been proud of all that has been accomplished.
I thank you for your incredible generosity through the years and will be donating the remaining funds to the local breast cancer organizations listed below. Click on the logos to learn more about each:
